In the ghettos of Southern Bogotá lies El Ensueño Skatepark. Skateboarding and skaters are respected in Colombia. Rumours have it that for some reason the police appreciate skaters and don’t bother them—such a contrasting thought process relative to the First World.
In saying that, skateboarding is safe in most areas; however, this is as far as my driver would take me. There is another skatepark only ten minutes away, but my driver refused to go any deeper into the ghetto. I was glad to have a driver waiting for me at this park becuase skateboarding might be safe, but taking photographs of skateparks in Bogotá is dangerous and best left to the professionals at Skater Maps. There was an individual who didn’t appreciate me taking photos and charged at me with a weapon, so I sprinted for the taxi. We have since tailored how we take pics of the parks in South America, so sorry for not providing you with the standard angles and close-ups that we would like to show you.
The skatepark is pretty average, with some transitions and a flat rail, but I can’t honestly give you a proper review of the skatepark as I was chased away within a minute of arriving.

Skatepark Transversal
A stock-standard, street-oriented skatepark featuring the standard collection of rails, ledges, banks, and stairs. The park also includes a quarter pipe at one end to help maintain flow. It is a super fun skatepark, worthy of three stars with ease.
