The New Melton Skatepark designed and built by Convic has replaced the previous park with more features than you could fit in a single skate. They have left the original 10ft vert halfpipe, but everything else has been removed and replaced starting with the concrete slab and ending with a 7ft half bowl. Hidden in the middle of the park is a 2ft mini ramp that is one of the best for progression skateboarding in greater Melbourne. The steel half-pipe is still in mint condition for anyone still interested in vert skating or just wanting to mix it up. The park has a couple of very steep ramps and banks. It also features a 4ft spine that is in the middle of the park that melts into a corner at one end and has ramps, box’s, rails and ledges on the other. With every quarter size ramp imaginable, you will be able to learn your tricks and progressively master them on each size. Melton has a sweet street section with stairs, rails, ledges and boxes, however, the most impressive aspects of the skatepark is the street course that runs through The Willows Historic Park with a number of rails that makes great use of the existing pathway.
Melton Skatepark is light up under lights until 11 pm, so there are no excuses not to find time to go and check it out.
