The Mooroopna Skatepark (AKA “x-abition” facility) is located at Ferrari Park, McLennan Street, Mooroopna.
The Skatepark, built in 2004, is pretty unique and very fun. The Skatepark includes a 6 ft deep enclosed bowl (with no height variation), 3 to 5 to 8 stair combination with ledge and down rail (allowing a transition from the upper bowl area to the lower level of the park). Adjacent to the stairs there is also a bowling, sloping quarter pipe that creates a dynamic chute around and up the 5 ft quarter pipe extension and eventually to a 6 ft extension. From here a re-entry into the park leads skaters over a molded and graded funbox with hip before reaching a bank with ledge or quarter pipe to return to the bowl or drop back into the park. There is also a transition to a smaller quarter leading down a banked roll in available.
There is however a bit of a lack of basic rails for street skaters at the Skatepark apart for the down rail at the stairs and a small 0.2 m stand alone manual pad adjacent to the bowl. For beginners there is also a 0.3m ledge and ramp to the North of the bowl.
The Ferrari Park precinct also includes barbeque facilities, under cover picnic tables, children’s playground and toilets.
According to the Greater Shepparton council the Skatepark is a “unique facility…something which is not found in any other location within the Council”. If you want to hold an event at one of the Skateparks within the Greater Shepparton Council region check out their website.
Currently rated at three stars but I reckon it’s not far from a four…
