Beaumaris Skatepark is located off Keating Street, adjacent to the footy field (Donald MacDonald Reverse). The skatepark is a concrete slab with mini quarters on each end and a couple of rails, and a little drop off in the middle. Although Beaumaris skatepark is small, it has some great lines, and the concrete is fast.
If you’re a ramp skater, though, there probably won’t be too much for you here, as the quarters are spaced out a long way with some flat ramps in between.
Overall, Beaumaris Skatepark deserves three out of five stars for a solid skate.
The plus side to the small scale of Beaumaris is that it is unlikely to be very busy, so that you can practice your board slides all day long without disruption. There is also a nice big net to park your pram on the other side and protect your little loved one from a wayward skateboard; unfortunately, this will not guarantee their safety from an errant drop punt. Other features of this park include close parking, plenty of grass to lie on as well as proximity to the 3rd Beaumaris Scout Group (just in case you were thinking about joining).
It could get busy if there’s footy on or a Jamboree at the Scout Hall. There are also toilets, BBQs and drinking taps available at the site.
In other news, apparently, residents have been using the reserve as a leash-free dog-walking park for years. However, new plans released early in 2017 to remove some of the park’s gates, as part of a Bayside Council fencing project, have residents “barking mad”…
So watch out for dogs and their owners on the loose!
