Skateboarding and beer go hand in hand. Many advocate that a couple of beers actually helps to loosen up their mojo and skate much better. It wasn’t that long ago that the Papa’s brothers and other skateboarding legends use to shread whilst drunk as a skunk. The professionalism of skateboarding has shifted towards mainstream athletes and sober skateboarding has never been more prevalent, however for the rest of us that are not pro skaters, there is nothing better than a boutique craft beer to quench the thirst during a skate session.

With beer being such a readily sold item in almost every shopping centre across Australia we have never had to think about where to buy our beer. During the coronavirus restrictions in Australia, we started familiarizing ourselves with shopping for beer online.

Coronavirus restrictions across Melbourne increased to stage 4 lockdown and we had to live under a curfew where we couldn’t even go to our local drive-through and purchase a 6 pack of beer. During these tough times, we resorted to ordering beer through Uber Eats as it was one of the only ways we could hydrate ourselves with tasty beers without leaving the house during the curfew. As days turned into weeks and the Uber account upgrade to platinum, we started to realise how much we were spending on delivery services and the premium we were paying for craft beer. It doesn’t take a genius to realise that if we planned ahead a day we can buy craft beer for much cheaper online than we use to be able to at our local drive-through bottle shop. Suddenly the delivery approach doesn’t sound so silly.

As we started ordering our beer online we began noticing that our fridges were filled with the Balters we want to drink, not whatever special we decided to go for with the old school bricks and mortar approach. Our fridges were better stocked with tastier craft beers, we saved a slab of money and never had to leave our homes or contemplate navigating pirate eyed through a bottle shop. For the majority of us that are not pro skateboards, we can still shread whilst smiling under the influence of tasty Balter beers. Long live the legendary stories and generation of hardcore athletes across a variety of board sports including skateboarding, surfing and snowboarding. We will never forget the late legends including Ben Pappas, Andy Irons and many other influential athletes of their time.

Drink with happiness smile
